Saturday Stage School every week in Stroud starting January 2010.
We love coming to Stroud so much we have decided to come every week! Do you fancy joining us?
Fantastic, fresh and inspirational tuition in all three disciplines: Singing, Dancing and Acting! Work with vibrant professional performers and teachers with West End, Film and TV credits to their names!
When: Term dates: Saturday 24th April 2010 – 3rd July 2010 (excluding 29th May for half-term)
- Main School (7 – 18 yrs): 9.30am – 12.30am
- Sparkles (4 – 6 yrs): 9.00am – 10.30am

What to expect:
- Our stage school year is split into three ten-week terms. During the winter term we focus on technical skills and work towards a demonstration to parents. The spring and summer terms are used to rehearse for our summer show. We will supply short reports to you every term so that you can keep up to date with your child’s progress. As we will only have two terms this year, we will be doing demonstrations at the end of the spring term and a smaller scale show at the end of the summer term. As well as all of this you can expect VIP masterclasses and fantastic opportunities including a West End Performance! We are a school focussed on nurturing confidence, inspiring creativity and promoting positive self esteem. We believe every child has the ability to......Shine!
Main School age groups:
7 – 9yrs/ 10 -12yrs/ 13- 18 yrs. Each group spends an hour on each discipline; Drama, Dance and Singing.
Uniform:
- Uniform is not compulsory for the first term but by your second term your child should have a Shine on Stage t-shirt/ vest. We do not supply trousers. Any black tracksuit bottoms, leggings, jazz pants are acceptable. Jazz shoes are compulsory and are available from any dancewear specialist or online. Teens may wear Jazz Sneakers.
Fees:
Main School: 10 week term £180.00 per child (each additional sibling at £170.00)
Sparkles School: 10 week term £90.00 per child (each additional sibling £80.00)
We are proud to be offering fantastic tuition and excellent performance opportunities at around half the costs of leading national stage school franchises!
- Fees are payable in full at time of booking.
- You have a two week grace period. If after two weeks your child does not want to continue, we will refund you the fees for the remaining weeks of term. Once the first two weeks have passed we will not refund any fees.
- We will invoice you at the end of each term for the following term’s fees. If your child does not want to continue, you need to let us know in writing by the final week of term.
Tutors:
Main School (7 – 9yrs/ 10-12yrs/13 -18yrs): 3 groups spend 3 hours evenly split between Drama, Dance, and Singing.
- Drama Teachers: Alice Jackson (founder and principal of Shine on Stage). Alice has a BA Hons in Drama from Hull University and an MA in Classical Acting from Central School of Speech and Drama. She works as an actress in theatre, TV, and voiceovers as well as dancing in and choreographing major feature films and TV dramas.
- Drama Teacher: Jon Morgan. Stroud Stage School. Jon trained in theatre acting at drama school in Bristol. He then went on to perform in musical theatre national tours as well as TV and film roles. For the last two years Jon has been working with the Roses Youth Theatre in Tewkesbury and leading drama workshops across Gloucestershire.
- Singing Teacher: Alan Mandel. Stroud Stage School.
From Alan’s first appearance on stage at the Karachi American School in Pakistan at the age of 7, he has worked exceptionally hard to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He has led a varied life after being born in Brazil and has had the opportunity to travel the world at an early age. He has appeared in a number of productions ranging from new musicals (including Requiem for Tomorrow and Flamingo Blues) to BBC films alongside Colin Firth (Born Equal), and has directed numerous short films and plays. Most notably the multi award winning ‘On Ice’, for which he was awarded Best Film and Best Director at the 2 Days Later International Film Festival 2008.
- Dance Teacher: Faye Phillips. Stroud Stage School After training in Dance from the age of 2 yrs old, Faye attended the renowned Dance degree course at Middlesex University where she gained a 2.1 BA Hons degree in Dance Performance. She teaches a vast range of styles including HipHop, Modern jazz, commercial jazz and Contemporary Dance.
Sparkles: (4 – 6yrs): 90 minutes evenly split between Drama, Dance, and Singing.
- Dance Teacher: Carol Crawford. Carol is an accomplished and exciting dance teacher. She is a trained BDTA dance teacher and teaches many styles from Ballet to Flamenco. She also works as a choreographer and scriptwriter. She is inspiring and creative and we are thrilled that she is on board.
- Sparkles Teacher: Carly Etherington. Carly trained at Bath University and is a Theatre and Dance practitioner, and makes a lot of her own work having previously recieved commissions to make work by Bristol Council and Cirque Bijou. She is currently working on projects to be performed at several outdoor and indoor festivals this year as part of my company Peter Tells Lies. Having taught dance and performing arts for many years Carly strives to create a fun and exciting atmosphere in which children can learn.
